Stranded with a damaged tyre in Wembley?
Wembley has some of the busiest roads in north-west London. The A406 North Circular runs past Neasden on the eastern side, the A404 Harrow Road crosses the middle, and Ealing Road and the High Road are slow-moving for much of the day. A tyre can let go on any of them: a bang on the North Circular, a gradual flat noticed after parking near Wembley Park, or a sidewall split against a kerb in Alperton. Call us whenever it happens. We're on the phone around the clock, every day, and we send the nearest free fitter with a tyre to wherever you are.
We aim to be with you within 60 minutes in most cases. On a big event day, or when the North Circular is jammed, it may take longer, and we'll tell you so when you call.
Keeping safe while you wait in Wembley
- On the A406 North Circular: this is a fast, multi-lane road with little room at the edge. If the car can still be driven slowly, take the next exit and stop in a side street. If it can't, switch on the hazard lights, get everyone out on the left and stand well away from moving traffic. Don't try to change a wheel beside it.
- Heading for the M1 or the M40: on the motorway, use the hard shoulder or an emergency area. Hazards on, out by the left-hand doors, and wait behind the barrier. If you're in an emergency area or in a live lane, phone National Highways on 0300 123 5000. Our motorway guide has the full steps.
- Around the stadium and the town centre: on a match or concert day, streets fill with pedestrians. Stop where you won't block a crossing, a bus route or a junction, and keep everyone on the pavement.
New tyre, safe repair or a tow
Typically the fitter replaces the tyre on the spot. If there's a single small puncture in the central tread and the tyre hasn't been driven on flat, a repair to British Standard guidance may be possible instead. If the car has stopped somewhere a fitter can't safely work, such as a stretch of the North Circular with no hard standing, or the wheel is bent, we can arrange breakdown recovery.
You'll be offered budget, mid-range and premium tyres, each with the manufacturer's guarantee. Wheel balancing and taking the old tyre away are free. Prices are competitive with no hidden fees.
Wheel lock key: if your car has locking wheel nuts, put the key on the passenger seat now. It saves time once the fitter arrives.
Leaving an event to find a flat
Coming back to the car after a match or a gig and finding a tyre on the rim is a miserable way to end a night out. Traffic around the area is at its heaviest just as you want to leave, and driving off on a flat to get out of the queue will usually destroy the tyre. If the car has run-flat tyres, you may be able to drive a short way at low speed, but check the handbook first: our article on run-flat tyres explains the limits. Otherwise, stay where it's safe and call us. The crowds will have thinned by the time the fitter is working on the car, and you'll drive home on a sound tyre rather than limping through the traffic. If you're in a large car park, note the zone or level and a nearby exit so we can find you without going round in circles.
