Acton Drivers, Western Avenue and the Uxbridge Road
Acton sits between two of west London's main routes out of the city. To the north, Western Avenue carries the A40 out towards the suburbs, and through the middle of the town the Uxbridge Road runs from Shepherd's Bush on towards Ealing, Hanwell and Southall. In between are streets of terraced and semi-detached houses, many with speed humps, permit bays and tight corners.
That mix of fast dual carriageway and slow residential roads gives tyres a hard time. Whether you pick up a puncture on the A40 slip roads or find a flat on a side street near the High Street, one of our mobile fitters can come out to you with the equipment and the tyre, and get the car sorted without a trip to a garage.
The service runs day and night, every day, and we aim to reach you within 60 minutes in most cases. How long it takes in practice depends on the time of day and the traffic.
How We Handle an Acton Job
You won't be passed around. Call or message us, say where the car is and what's wrong, and we'll send the nearest available fitter from our network of over 100 across England and Wales.
- Repairs are done when the puncture is in a safe place to repair; if not, a new tyre goes on.
- Balancing the wheel is free, and so is disposing of the old tyre.
- Every new tyre carries the manufacturer's guarantee.
- Payment is by card, cash or bank transfer, and there are no hidden fees.
If you have the tyre size handy (it's printed on the sidewall, something like 205/55 R16), we can check stock before the fitter sets off.
It also helps to mention anything awkward about where the car is: a red route where stopping is restricted, a bus lane, or a residents' bay with only a narrow gap at the kerb. The fitter can then plan how to reach the wheel safely before arriving, instead of working it out on the spot.
Tyre Services Available in Acton
- Mobile tyre fitting: choose from budget, mid-range and premium tyres, fitted at home, outside work or in a car park.
- Puncture repair: a screw in the middle of the tread doesn't always mean a new tyre; we check first and repair it when it's safe.
- Van tyres: for the many vans running between Acton and the rest of west London, with commercial tyres rated for the load.
- Breakdown recovery: when the problem is more than a tyre, or the vehicle can't safely be worked on where it stopped.
Covering Every Part of Acton
We cover North Acton, South Acton, East Acton, West Acton, Acton Green, Acton Vale, Acton Town and the streets around Acton Central, together with Western Avenue (A40), the Uxbridge Road and the High Street. Acton forms part of our London coverage.
Our fitters are just as often called out in the places that border it, including Ealing, Chiswick and Hammersmith.
Speed Humps and Uneven Tyre Wear
Lots of Acton's residential roads are traffic-calmed, and taking speed humps or cushions too quickly, or clipping the edge of one, can knock your wheel alignment out over time. The tyre itself may look fine from above, but the tracking is quietly scrubbing away one edge of the tread.
Every few weeks, turn the steering to full lock and look at the front tyres. If the inner or outer edge is noticeably more worn than the centre, or the car pulls to one side on a straight road, get the alignment checked. Left alone, that uneven wear can take a tyre below the legal 1.6mm on one shoulder long before the rest of the tread is worn, and you may not notice until it fails an MOT or punctures. Take the humps slowly and straight on, and your tyres will last noticeably longer.
