Mobile tyre repair vs mobile tyre fitting

If your tyre has a small puncture or minor damage, our mobile tyre repair service is the ideal choice. We can fix the tyre on the spot, saving you time and money. This service is perfect for situations where the tyre can be repaired rather than replaced. To find out whether your tyre meets the British Standard guidelines, read this blog page

How can I determine if my tyre is repairable?

The general procedures to determine whether a tyre can be repaired is as follows:

  • Tyre Tread Depth: The tread depth of the tyre in question must be more than the legal limit of 1.6mm all around.
  • Run-flats cannot be repaired: Due to the unique way run-flat tyres are designed to function when punctured, they cannot be repaired for safety reasons
  • Diameter of damaged area: The diameter of the damaged area cannot be larger than 6mm as they are considered too dangerous to repair (BS AU 159)
  • Sidewall damage cannot be repaired: Any damage to the tyre’s sidewall compromises its structural integrity, making it unsafe to repair.
  • Tyre Age: Tyres older than 10 years should not be repaired as the rubber degrades over time, reducing performance and safety.
  • Weather Impact: If the tyre shows signs of cracking due to exposure to weather, it’s better to replace it rather than repair, as this weakens the tyre's structure.
