Reading's Mobile Tyre Fitters
Reading has three M4 junctions on its southern edge, and they shape how the town drives. Junction 10 links in via the A329(M) from the Wokingham side, junction 11 feeds the A33 relief road up into the centre, and junction 12 at Theale connects with the A4. Add the bridges over the Thames to Caversham, and you have a lot of traffic squeezed onto a few busy routes, especially at rush hour.
If you get a flat or a damaged tyre, you do not need to join that traffic to find a garage. A fitter will come to your home, workplace or the roadside instead. We operate day and night, all week, and aim to reach you within 60 minutes in most cases, depending on location and traffic.
That helps if you work in one of the offices near the town centre or on the business parks to the south, where a flat discovered at the end of the day would otherwise mean a long wait. The fitter can come to the staff car park while you finish up, so the car is ready when you are. It also helps late at night, when most tyre centres have long since closed and the last thing you want is to change a wheel by torchlight on a dark verge.
What a Reading Call-Out Involves
From the first call to driving away, the process is short:
- Tell us the location and the problem. If you can, read the tyre size off the sidewall, for example 195/65 R15.
- A fitter nearby is dispatched. We have more than 100 mobile fitters across England and Wales, so there is usually one close to Reading.
- Your tyre is repaired or replaced. Balancing and disposal of the old tyre are free, and the new tyre has the manufacturer's guarantee.
Card, cash and bank transfer are all accepted. Prices are competitive and there are no hidden fees.
Our Services for Reading
- Mobile tyre fitting: choose budget, mid-range or premium tyres and have them fitted in Tilehurst, Earley or wherever the car is parked.
- Puncture repair: we repair small punctures in the centre of the tread, in line with British Standard guidance, and replace tyres that cannot be safely repaired.
- Van tyres: for vans working out of the business parks and industrial areas along the A33 and near the M4.
- Breakdown recovery: when the car needs moving rather than fixing, for instance after a blowout has damaged the wheel.

Cold Mornings and Tyre Pressures
When the temperature drops, so does the air pressure in your tyres. A cold snap can leave all four noticeably softer than they were in the autumn, and that is often when the pressure warning light comes on for the first time on a frosty morning. Many drivers assume the light is faulty and ignore it.
It is worth checking instead. Measure the pressures with the tyres cold, before driving any distance, and top them up to the figures on the door sticker or in the handbook. If they are all low by a similar amount, the cold is probably the cause. If one is much lower than the others, look for a puncture. Under-inflated tyres grip less on wet and icy roads and wear faster, so a monthly check through winter is worth the few minutes it takes.
