Tyre Fitting Around Oxford and Its Ring Road
Driving in Oxford mostly happens around the edges. The city centre is hard going by car, so many people use the ring road, the park and ride sites and the main routes in: the A34 to the west, the A40 to the north and east, and the eastern bypass past Headington and Cowley. Beyond the ring road, narrow lanes lead out to villages across Oxfordshire, and their surfaces are not always kind to tyres.
Wherever a tyre lets you down, a mobile fitter can come to you: at home in Summertown or Marston, at work in Cowley, or in a park and ride car park at the end of the day. We are available 24/7, and in most cases we aim to reach you within 60 minutes, depending on traffic and how far out you are.
Parking in the city can be tight, with cars nose to tail on terraced streets and permit bays in front of most houses. That is usually enough room for a fitter to work. If the car is somewhere awkward, such as a narrow lane with no pavement or a busy stretch of the ring road, mention it when you call so we can plan the safest way to do the job.
Why Oxford Drivers Prefer the Fitter to Come to Them
Getting a car with a flat across the city to a workshop is slow at the best of times. A fitter who comes to you avoids that altogether. With every call-out you get:
- A local fitter, sent from our network of more than 100 across England and Wales.
- Work done where the car is, whether that is a residential street or a lay-by.
- Free balancing and free tyre disposal with every fitting.
- The manufacturer's guarantee on all new tyres.
- Straightforward payment by card, cash or bank transfer, with no hidden fees.
Tyre Services in and Around Oxford
- Mobile tyre fitting: premium, mid-range or budget tyres fitted on a driveway in Headington, a street in Jericho, or a car park in Botley.
- Puncture repair: small punctures in the central part of the tread can usually be repaired safely; we will explain if yours cannot.
- Van tyres: for tradespeople and delivery drivers working across the city and out on the A34 and A40.
- Breakdown recovery: if a pothole has bent a wheel or the car cannot safely stay where it is.

We also cover nearby Kidlington, Abingdon, Wheatley and Witney.
After a Pothole: What to Look For
Country lanes around Oxford, and some of the city's own streets, can be rough, particularly after a wet winter. Hitting a deep pothole squeezes the tyre against the rim in an instant. Sometimes the damage is obvious straight away, but often it shows up a day or two later.
After a hard hit, pull over when it is safe and look at the tyre. A bulge on the sidewall means the internal structure is damaged and the tyre needs replacing; do not drive any distance on it. Over the next few days, watch for the car pulling to one side, a new vibration through the steering wheel, or a tyre that keeps losing air, which could point to a cracked or bent rim. Any of those is worth getting checked, because a weakened tyre can fail without much warning at speed on the A34.
