Getting Around Harrow, and Getting Tyres Sorted
Harrow is a hilly place to drive. The streets climb up to Harrow on the Hill, wind down towards South Harrow and Rayners Lane, and fill up quickly at rush hour along Station Road and Kenton Road. Add plenty of on-street parking and a lot of stop-start traffic, and tyres here take more punishment than the mileage alone suggests.
If one lets you down, we can bring a replacement to you. Our mobile fitters attend homes, workplaces, car parks and roadsides across the borough at any time of day or night. We aim to be with you within around an hour in most cases, although that can vary with traffic and where you are.
Many homes here have a sloping drive or no drive at all, and that is rarely a problem. The fitter will look at the slope and the ground first and find a safe, steady way to lift the car, whether it is parked on a residential road off the A404 or in a shopping car park near the town centre. If the spot really is unsafe, they will tell you and help you move the car a short distance first.
Why Harrow Motorists Use a Mobile Tyre Fitter
Driving to a tyre centre on a flat or a damaged tyre is risky, and queuing once you get there wastes the morning. With a mobile fitter, the job comes to you:
- We send someone nearby from our network of more than 100 fitters in England and Wales.
- The fitter repairs or replaces the tyre where the car is parked.
- Balancing and disposal of the old tyre come free with every fitting.
- New tyres are covered by the manufacturer's guarantee.
You can pay in cash, by card or by bank transfer. The prices are competitive and there are no hidden extras.

Steep Streets Show Up Worn Tread
Coming down a steep road in the rain is where tread depth really matters. The grooves in a tyre clear water from under the contact patch, and as they wear shallower the tyre takes longer to stop. On a hill, that extra distance arrives at exactly the wrong moment, usually just before a junction at the bottom.
The UK legal minimum is 1.6 mm across the central three-quarters of the tread, but braking in the wet gets noticeably worse well before that. A quick test: put a 20p coin into the main grooves. If you can see the outer band of the coin, the tread may be at or near the legal limit and the tyre should be checked properly. Check all four tyres, because front and rear often wear at different rates. Parking on a slope? Turn the wheels towards the kerb, but do it gently so you do not scuff the sidewall.
