Southall flat tyre? Call us first
In Southall a tyre emergency often comes at the end of a long evening: leaving a wedding or a family gathering to find one corner of the car sitting low, a puncture picked up in the crawl along The Broadway, or a blowout on the A312 on the way back from the M4. Whatever the time, ring us. We take calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and send the nearest free fitter with a suitable tyre to the street, car park or driveway where the car is.
We aim to get to you within 60 minutes in most cases. The Uxbridge Road can be slow at almost any hour, so we'll tell you honestly what to expect when you call.
Making the car and everyone safe
- On The Broadway or the Uxbridge Road: traffic is slow but crowded, with buses and pedestrians everywhere. Pull into a side street if you can do so at walking pace, and stay out of bus stops and bus lanes. Switch on your hazards and wait on the pavement.
- On the A312 between the Uxbridge Road and the M4: this dual carriageway is quick. Slow down without stamping on the brake, take the next turning if the car will steer, and if it won't, get everyone out on the side away from the traffic.
- After joining the M4 at junction 3: use the hard shoulder or an emergency area, put the hazard lights on, leave by the left-hand doors and stand behind the barrier. From an emergency area or a live lane, call National Highways on 0300 123 5000. Our flat tyre on the motorway article sets out each step.
Late at night, choose a spot under a street light if you have the choice, and keep a phone torch handy so you can read the tyre size off the sidewall for us. If you have elderly relatives or children with you after an event, get them settled somewhere warm and away from the road before you do anything else.
Working in tight Southall streets
Usually, a replacement tyre is fitted right there. Our fitters are used to working in tight gaps between parked cars on Southall's residential roads, provided there's enough room to jack the car safely. If the tyre has a small puncture in the central tread and hasn't been driven on flat, a repair to British Standard guidance may be possible. Where a fitter can't work on the car safely, or the wheel is damaged, we can arrange breakdown recovery.
New tyres are offered in budget, mid-range and premium brands with the manufacturer's guarantee. Balancing and getting rid of the old tyre come free, and there are no hidden fees.
Borrowed or family car? Ask whoever usually drives it where the locking wheel nut key is kept. Without it, the fitter can't remove the wheel.
Nails, screws and a soft tyre the next morning
Busy streets with building work and small businesses mean plenty of sharp debris near the kerb. A screw picked up in the evening can leave a tyre flat by the morning, just when you need the car. Don't drive on it to a petrol station to pump it up; a few minutes on a very low tyre can damage it beyond repair. Our guide to whether a tyre with a nail or screw can be repaired explains what the fitter looks for. If the screw is in the shoulder or the sidewall, expect a new tyre.
Covering Southall and its neighbours
We cover Southall Broadway, Southall Green, Norwood Green, Dormers Wells and Havelock, plus the A4020 Uxbridge Road, the A312, the A4127 Greenford Road and the approach to junction 3 of the M4. Nearby, our fitters also come out to Hayes, Ealing and Hounslow.
Questions we'll ask you
- The street name and postcode, or the road and the nearest landmark or junction.
- What is wrong with the tyre, and how far you drove after noticing.
- The size printed on the tyre's side, or the car's registration.
- Whether the car is parked somewhere a fitter can work, or stuck in traffic.
