Flat tyre in Bicester? We come to you

Bicester is boxed in by fast roads: the M40 runs past on the western side, the A41 heads in from junction 9 at Wendlebury, and the A34 carries traffic down towards Oxford. A tyre can fail on any of them, or in a car park at Bicester Village, or on a new street in Graven Hill the night before an early start. Call us at any hour. We operate 24/7, including weekends, and dispatch the closest fitter with a replacement tyre to wherever the car is.

We aim to reach you within 60 minutes in most cases. Shopping traffic on the A41 and the time of day make a difference, and we'll give you an honest estimate.

Safety first on the M40, the A41 and the A34

  • M40 near junctions 9 and 10: pull onto the hard shoulder or into an emergency area and switch on the hazards. Everyone should get out using the left-hand doors and wait behind the barrier. If you're in an emergency area or have stopped in a live lane, call National Highways on 0300 123 5000.
  • The A41 and the A34: both are busy dual carriageways around the Wendlebury interchange. If the car will still move slowly, take the next exit or lay-by rather than stopping in a lane.
  • Village roads: on the roads to Launton, Ambrosden or Chesterton, park as far off the road as you can, keep the hazard lights on and wait on the verge, not beside the car.

Try not to drive on a flat tyre. A short distance can turn a repairable puncture into a tyre that has to be replaced, and it can damage the wheel as well. Our motorway flat tyre guide has more on what to do.

How the fitter deals with it

In most cases a new tyre goes on where the car is parked. If the tyre has a small puncture in the central tread and hasn't been driven while flat, a repair following British Standard guidance may be possible. If the car can't be safely worked on where it stopped, we can arrange breakdown recovery.

Pick a budget, mid-range or premium tyre. Every new tyre carries the manufacturer's guarantee, and we balance the wheel and remove the old tyre free.

Find your wheel lock key: it's often in the glovebox or a small pouch by the jack. The fitter can't remove a locked wheel without it, so it's worth checking while you wait.

Building sites and new estates

Bicester has been growing fast, and the roads around housing developments can carry screws, nails and offcuts dropped by site traffic. These often leave a slow leak rather than a sudden flat. If you spot a screw head in the tread, leave it in place, as pulling it out can let the air go at once. Our article on whether a tyre with a nail or screw can be repaired explains when a repair is possible.

Visitors to Bicester Village sometimes return to the car park to find a tyre that has gone soft while they were shopping. Rather than joining the queue out onto the A41 on a deflating tyre, stay where you are and call. A car park is a safe, level place for the fitter to work, and it saves the wheel from damage. Tell us which car park you're in and roughly where the car is parked.

Phone for emergency tyre fitting in Bicester

Call 07989 606060 or send a WhatsApp, day or night. It helps if you can tell us:

  3. The tyre size from the sidewall (for example 205/60 R16) or your registration.
