Puncture or blowout in Slough? Call us first
Slough's busiest driving happens on the M4, where junctions 5, 6 and 7 serve the town, and on the A4 Bath Road, which runs right through it. Both carry heavy traffic early and late, and the trading estate keeps vans moving at hours when tyre centres are shut. If a tyre fails, whether it's on the motorway, on the A355 towards Farnham Royal or outside your home in Manor Park, ring us. We answer 24 hours a day, every day of the week, and send the nearest available mobile fitter with the tyre you need.
In most cases we aim to reach you within 60 minutes, depending on location and traffic, and we'll give you an honest time when you call.
The M4 has no hard shoulder here
The M4 from junction 3 to junction 12 is an all-lane-running smart motorway, so the old hard shoulder is now a traffic lane. If a tyre goes on the stretch past Slough:
- Indicate left and leave at the next junction if the car can manage it at reduced speed.
- If not, pull into the next emergency area. These are marked with blue signs showing an SOS telephone, and have an orange surface.
- Switch the hazards on, leave through the left-hand doors and wait behind the barrier. Call National Highways on 0300 123 5000 or use the emergency phone so they can protect you, then call us.
- If you can't get off the carriageway and it isn't safe to get out, stay in the car with seat belts on and hazards flashing, and dial 999.
Our motorway flat tyre guide covers this in more depth. If you see a red X above a lane, it's closed, often to protect someone stopped ahead; never drive in it.
Away from the motorway, on the A4, the A332 towards Windsor and the dual carriageway parts of the A355, slow down gradually with the hazards on and turn off into a side road, car park or lay-by rather than stopping in lane. In residential streets, pull in where you aren't blocking a junction, a bus stop or a driveway, so the fitter has room to work around the car.
Repair on the spot, or a new tyre fitted
Our fitter checks the damage first. If the puncture is in the central three-quarters of the tread, smaller than 6 mm and the tyre wasn't run flat, it can usually be repaired to British Standard guidance. If not, a new tyre is fitted there and then, from budget, mid-range or premium brands. Balancing and disposal of your old tyre are included free, and new tyres carry the manufacturer's guarantee. For a car that can't be worked on where it has stopped, or one with a damaged wheel, we can arrange breakdown recovery.
Find your wheel nut key: if your car has locking wheel nuts, get the key out of the glovebox or boot tray while you wait. We can't remove the wheel without it.
Slow leaks on a busy commute
Stop-start traffic on the A4 and the M4 junctions means plenty of drivers don't notice a tyre slowly losing air until it suddenly feels wrong at speed. If the car pulls to one side, the steering feels heavy or you keep having to top up one tyre, take a look at our page on slow puncture signs. Catching it early often means a repair rather than a replacement.
