Emergency tyre help across Aylesbury
Aylesbury has no motorway of its own, but several busy A roads meet at its edges: the A41 to Tring and Bicester, the A413 to Wendover and Buckingham, the A418 to Thame and Leighton Buzzard, and the A4010 down through Stoke Mandeville. Add the newer link roads around the growing estates, and there's a lot of ground where a tyre can fail. When yours does, call us. We're on the phone 24 hours a day, every day, and send the nearest mobile fitter with a replacement tyre to wherever the car is.
We aim to reach you within 60 minutes in most cases, depending on the location and traffic, and we'll give you a fair idea of timing when you call.
Safe places to stop on Aylesbury's roads
- A41 Aston Clinton bypass: this is a fast dual carriageway heading towards Tring. If a tyre goes, keep a firm grip, slow gradually with the hazards on and make for the next exit or a wide verge. Get out on the side away from the traffic and wait well back from the carriageway.
- Single-carriageway A roads: the A41 towards Waddesdon, the A413 and the A418 have stretches with no lay-by for some distance. Don't stop on a bend or the brow of a hill; creep on to a straight section or a field entrance where approaching drivers can see you.
- The ring road and gyratory: traffic flows constantly, so turn off into a side street or car park if the car will get there slowly.
Driving any distance on a deflated tyre usually destroys it, and the wheel can follow, so stop as soon as it's safe.
Building sites and slow punctures
Aylesbury has grown fast, with large estates at Berryfields and Kingsbrook added on the edge of town in recent years. Construction traffic leaves screws, nails and offcuts on the surrounding roads, and these tend to cause a slow leak rather than an instant flat. The tyre goes down over a day or two until you find it soft on the drive one morning, just as you need to leave. A screw in the tread is often repairable if it's caught early; our guide on whether a tyre with a nail or screw can be repaired explains the rules. Leave it too long, or drive on it flat, and it will need replacing. If you live on or near a building site, a quick look along the tread once a week costs nothing and can save a morning.
Repairs, new tyres and recovery
If the puncture sits in the central three-quarters of the tread and is no wider than 6 mm, the fitter can usually repair it to British Standard guidance. If not, we fit a new tyre on the spot, choosing from premium, mid-range and budget brands. Wheel balancing and disposal of the old tyre are free, and the manufacturer's guarantee covers the new one.
When the car is somewhere a fitter can't work safely, or the wheel itself is damaged, our breakdown recovery team can move it first.
Locking wheel nuts: most newer cars have one per wheel. The key is often in the glovebox or in a pouch with the tool kit. Have it out ready, because without it the wheel stays on.
Aylesbury estates, villages and roads we cover
We come out to the whole town, including Bedgrove, Southcourt, Quarrendon, Watermead, Walton Court, Haydon Hill, Berryfields, Fairford Leys and Kingsbrook, and to villages such as Stoke Mandeville, Bierton, Weston Turville, Aston Clinton and Waddesdon. Our fitters also attend the A41, A413, A418 and A4010, and the Eastern Link Road round Kingsbrook. Nearby, see our pages for Wendover, Tring and Thame.
Helpful things to say on the phone
- Where you are: street or estate name, road number and direction, or the nearest village.
- The size marked on the tyre, such as 225/40 R18. A photo sent on WhatsApp works too, or just the reg.
- What caused it, if you know: a screw, a pothole, a kerb or a sudden blowout.
- Whether the car is safely off the road.
