Mobile Tyres for Thame and Its Villages

Thame is a market town ringed by its bypass, the A418 and A4129, which sweeps around the north of town and links it to Haddenham, Chinnor and the M40. The A329 runs south from the town towards junction 7 of the motorway. Away from those main routes, most driving here is on country roads between villages such as Long Crendon, Towersey and Kingsey, where the nearest tyre bay may be a fair distance away.

Because of that, a lot of Thame households rely on a car for almost every journey, and plenty keep a second car that only does short local trips. When a tyre on either one needs attention, our fitters come out to you. We work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and in most cases aim to reach you within 60 minutes, depending on where you are and the roads in between.

How a Thame Call-Out Works

  1. Tell us about the tyre. Let us know the size from the sidewall, the problem and where the car is, whether that's in town or down a lane.
  2. We send the closest fitter. Our network includes more than 100 mobile fitters across England and Wales, so we can pick someone already working nearby.
  3. Your tyre is fixed on the spot. That includes free wheel balancing and free disposal of the old tyre, and new tyres carry the manufacturer's guarantee.

Payment is by card, cash or bank transfer once the job is finished, and the price has no hidden fees.

Our Services in and Around Thame

  • Mobile tyre fitting: premium, mid-range or budget tyres fitted on your drive in town or at a farmhouse gate out in the villages.
  • Puncture repair: we repair rather than replace whenever the damage is small and in the central tread, in line with British Standard guidance.
  • Van tyres: for builders, landscapers and delivery drivers working the rural roads between Thame and the Chilterns.
  • Breakdown recovery: when a car can't be safely fixed where it stopped, perhaps on a narrow lane or the bypass.

Villages and Roads We Cover Near Thame

We cover all of Thame and the villages around it, including Haddenham, Long Crendon, Towersey, Kingsey, Shabbington, Tetsworth and Sydenham. On the road network, that includes the A418 and A4129 bypass, the A329 and the M40 near junctions 6 to 8.

Neighbouring towns with their own pages include Chinnor, Princes Risborough, Wheatley and Aylesbury.

Low-Mileage Cars: Tyres Age Even When the Tread Looks Fine

A car that only pops into town for shopping or does the occasional village run can go years without wearing its tyres down. The tread may still look deep, but rubber hardens and cracks with age, losing grip and becoming more likely to fail, particularly on a car that sits outside in the sun and frost.

Every tyre has a four-digit date code on the sidewall: the first two digits are the week and the last two the year it was made, so 2318 means the 23rd week of 2018. Many manufacturers suggest having tyres inspected once they reach five years old and replacing them by around ten, whatever the tread depth. Look for fine cracks between the tread blocks or on the sidewall too. It's worth checking the spare as well, since it may be the oldest tyre on the car. If you're unsure how old yours are, our fitter can read the codes and give you an honest opinion while they're with you.
