Tyre Fitting That Comes to You in Chinnor
Chinnor is a large Oxfordshire village sitting right below the steep north-west face of the Chilterns. The B4009 runs along its length, junction 6 of the M40 at Lewknor is a few miles to the south-west, and Thame and Princes Risborough are the nearest towns either side. Away from the main road, though, much of the local driving is on narrow lanes: up the hill to Bledlow Ridge, across to Kingston Blount, or out over the flat farmland towards Thame.
Those lanes are hard on tyres, and when one goes you'll often be a fair way from a garage. That's where a mobile service helps. One of our fitters drives out to you, brings the correct tyre, and repairs or replaces it on the spot. We work every hour of every day and aim to arrive within about 60 minutes in most cases, depending on where exactly you are and the roads in between.
Why Village Drivers Choose a Mobile Fitter
Driving to a tyre centre in Thame or High Wycombe on a damaged tyre is a gamble, and waiting there takes up most of a morning. With a mobile visit, the tyre bay comes to your door instead.
- A fitter from nearby. We draw on more than 100 mobile fitters across England and Wales and send whoever is free and closest.
- No extra charge for the basics. Wheel balancing and disposal of your old tyre are both free with every fitting.
- Peace of mind. New tyres are covered by the manufacturer's guarantee.
- Flexible payment. Pay by card, cash or transfer, at a fair price without hidden costs.
Our Services Along the B4009
- Mobile tyre fitting: a choice of premium, mid-range and budget tyres, fitted at your home in the village or at your place of work.
- Puncture repair: small punctures in the central tread are repaired to British Standard guidance; anything outside that gets a new tyre straight away.
- Van tyres: for farm, trade and delivery vans covering the villages between the hills and the Vale.
- Breakdown recovery: if you've ended up in a ditch or the wheel rim has cracked, we can arrange to take the vehicle somewhere safe.
Chinnor and the Villages Under the Ridge
As well as Chinnor itself, we travel to Kingston Blount, Crowell, Emmington, Sydenham, Henton, Oakley and Bledlow, and up the hill to Bledlow Ridge. We also cover the B4009 and the routes to the M40 at Lewknor.
Neighbouring areas we serve include Thame, Princes Risborough and Stokenchurch.
Some of the lanes up the escarpment have few safe places to stop. If you get a flat on one, move to the nearest wide gateway or lay-by if the tyre allows it at walking pace, switch on your hazard lights, and let us know roughly where you are. The fitter can find you from a description of the lane and the nearest village.
Lane Tip: Flints, Potholes and Sidewalls
Chalk country throws up flints, and on the single-track lanes around here they collect in the middle of the road and along the crumbling edges. Add potholes that open up after every hard frost and you have the two most common causes of tyre damage we see on this patch.
When you pull in to let another car pass, try not to drop the nearside wheels hard into the broken verge, as that is where sharp flints and deep holes hide. Slow right down for potholes rather than braking while you're in them, since a locked or heavily loaded tyre is more easily pinched against the rim. After any big jolt, look at the sidewall for a bulge or a cut: that kind of damage can't be repaired and may fail without warning later. A steering wheel that no longer sits straight is another sign that a wheel has taken a knock.
