Peterborough's Parkways and the Roads Beyond
Peterborough was planned around fast roads. Its parkways, the dual carriageways that link the townships, let you cross the city without stopping at many traffic lights, while the A1(M) runs down the west side and the A47 and A15 head off towards the Fens and Lincolnshire. Step outside the city, though, and the roads change completely: long straight Fen lanes, raised above the fields, with ditches on either side and not much room for error.
We cover both. If you get a flat on Fletton Parkway on the way to work, or on a farm road out towards Thorney, a mobile fitter can come out to you with the tyre and do the job on the spot. We're on call 24/7, and in most cases we aim to reach you within 60 minutes, depending on distance and traffic.
What a Peterborough Call-Out Includes
Once you've rung us, the job goes to the nearest available fitter in our network, which covers England and Wales with more than 100 mobile fitters. When they arrive they'll:
- check whether the tyre can be safely repaired, and repair it if so;
- if not, fit a new tyre from a premium, mid-range or budget range, with the manufacturer's guarantee;
- balance the wheel and take away the old tyre, both free of charge.
You can pay by card, cash or bank transfer once it's done, and the price has no hidden fees.
For drivers out in the villages, this saves a round trip into the city on a tyre that may not make it. The fitter comes to the farmhouse, the cottage or the field gate, as long as there's a firm, level spot to work on.
Tyre Services for the City and the Fens
- Mobile tyre fitting: replacement tyres for cars and 4x4s, fitted on your drive in the townships or at the business parks around the city.
- Puncture repair: a small puncture in the central tread can be fixed so the tyre stays in service, if it meets the safe repair limits.
- Van tyres: with warehouses and distribution sites around the city, there are plenty of delivery vans on its roads, and we fit their tyres at the depot or the drop.
- Breakdown recovery: for a car stuck on the A1(M) or a parkway where roadside work isn't safe, or with a wheel too badly damaged.
Townships, Villages and Main Roads
Our fitters cover the city centre and the townships of Bretton, Orton, Hampton, Werrington and Stanground, along with older districts such as Fletton, Woodston, Walton and Dogsthorpe. Further out, we reach Yaxley, Whittlesey, Eye, Thorney, Glinton and Castor. Roads we attend include the A1(M), the A47, the A15, the A605 and the parkway network.

Fen Roads: Broken Edges and Farm Debris
The roads across the Fens are built on soft, shrinking ground, so their surfaces ripple and their edges break away. Drop a wheel off the tarmac while passing an oncoming lorry and you can hit a sharp, crumbling edge hard enough to cut a sidewall. In harvest season there's also mud, stones and the odd piece of metal dropped from farm machinery.
Keep away from the very edge of the road where you can, and slow down when meeting larger vehicles on narrow stretches. After driving through mud or over debris, look at the tyres when you're back home: a cut, a bulge or something lodged in the tread is easier to deal with on your drive than at night on an unlit drove. If you're unsure, send us a photo on WhatsApp and we'll tell you whether it needs looking at.
Book a Peterborough Tyre Fitter
