Mobile Tyre Fitters for the City of Winchester
Winchester sits where several big routes meet. The M3 runs down its eastern edge with junctions 9, 10 and 11, the A34 comes in from the north, and the A31, A33, A272 and A3090 all converge on the city. Junction 9 at Winnall is one of the busiest interchanges in the south, carrying freight between Southampton and the Midlands, and the queues there are part of daily life for anyone commuting.
Inside the city it's a different story: narrow older streets, residential roads in Stanmore and Weeke, and newer homes out at Kings Barton. Whichever part of Winchester you're in when a tyre goes, we can bring a fitter and a replacement tyre to the car, around the clock.
Our aim is to reach you within 60 minutes in most cases. Roadworks or a jam at the M3 junctions can stretch that.
Why a Mobile Fitter Makes Sense Here
Finding a free slot at a workshop, then getting the car there on a tyre that's losing air, can eat up half a day. With us, the tyre comes to you. Here is what that looks like:
- One call or message, and the nearest of our 100-plus fitters across England and Wales is given the job.
- The fitter turns up with your size in stock, whether you want a budget, mid-range or premium tyre.
- Balancing is done free of charge and the old tyre leaves with the fitter, also at no cost.
- New tyres keep the manufacturer's guarantee, and you pay by card, cash or bank transfer, with no hidden fees.
It works just as well for people who are not stranded. If you've spotted a worn tyre or a nail in the tread while washing the car, you can book a visit to your home or office for a time that suits you, and carry on with your day while the fitter gets on with it outside. It beats losing a morning in a waiting room.
Our Services Around Winchester
- Mobile tyre fitting: new tyres put on at home in Harestock or Badger Farm, or wherever you happen to be parked in the city.
- Puncture repair: a small puncture in the central band of the tread is usually repairable to the British Standard. We check first and only replace the tyre when a repair wouldn't be safe.
- Van tyres: for vans and light commercials using the A34 and M3, where an hour off the road can throw out a whole delivery schedule.
- Breakdown recovery: when a damaged wheel or a dangerous stopping place means the car has to be moved first.
From Weeke to Badger Farm, and Beyond the City
Fitters cover Stanmore, Weeke, Harestock, Teg Down, Olivers Battery, Badger Farm, Winnall and Kings Barton, as well as the city centre. On the road network that means the M3 from junction 9 down to junction 11, plus the A34, A31, A33, A272 and A3090.
We are just as happy to come out to neighbouring towns, including Eastleigh to the south, Romsey along the A3090, Alton up the A31 and Basingstoke further north on the M3.
Stop-Start Queues and Tread Depth
Crawling through a queue at a big junction, then accelerating hard onto the motorway, wears tread faster than you might expect. Worn tyres are fine in the dry, but as the grooves get shallower they shift less water, and grip on a wet M3 drops away sharply.
The legal minimum in the UK is 1.6 mm across the central three-quarters of the tread. A quick check: push a 20p coin into the main grooves. If the outer band of the coin is visible, the tread may be at or below the limit and the tyre should be replaced. Check several points around each tyre, because uneven wear on one edge often points to tracking that needs adjusting.
