Tyres Sorted on the Spot in Southampton
Southampton traffic is a mix of everything: lorries heading for the docks along the M271, commuters crossing the Itchen Bridge from Woolston, students parked on the terraced streets around Portswood and Highfield, and people joining the M27 at junction 3 or the M3 at junction 4. A tyre can give out in any of those places, and very few of them are somewhere you would choose to wait for a tow.
Our answer is simple. Instead of you limping to a workshop, a mobile fitter drives out to the car with the right tyre already in the van. The work happens on your driveway, on the street outside your flat or in the car park at work, at any hour of the day or night.
In most cases we aim to have someone with you within 60 minutes. How quickly that happens depends on where in the city you are and how heavy the traffic is on the A33 and the approach roads at the time you call.
Why Southampton Drivers Call a Fitter Instead
Driving across the city on a deflated tyre usually wrecks it beyond repair, and changing a wheel on a busy road like the A33 is not much fun either. A mobile fitter removes both problems.
- Nearby help. With a network of more than 100 mobile fitters around England and Wales, the job is passed to whoever is closest to your part of Southampton.
- Nothing extra to pay for the basics. Balancing the new wheel and taking the old tyre away for disposal cost nothing extra.
- Tyres you can rely on. Every new tyre is covered by its maker's guarantee, whether you choose a premium, mid-range or budget brand.
- Flexible payment. Settle up by card, cash or bank transfer once the fitter has finished. Prices are competitive and the figure you agree is the figure you pay.
What We Can Do for Your Car or Van
- Mobile tyre fitting: replacement tyres fitted wherever the car is parked, whether that is a side street in Freemantle or a driveway in Bitterne.
- Puncture repair: a nail or screw in the middle of the tread can often be plugged and sealed safely, which saves you buying a whole new tyre. Damage near the shoulder or sidewall means a replacement instead.
- Van tyres: couriers and trades vans running between the port, the industrial estates and the M27 can have a flat dealt with between drops.
- Breakdown recovery: if a wheel has been bent or the car is stranded in an unsafe spot, we can move it rather than fit a tyre at the roadside.
Southampton Districts and the Towns Around Them
We send fitters right across the city: Shirley, Freemantle, Portswood, Highfield, St Denys, Swaythling, Bitterne, Bitterne Park and Woolston on the far side of the Itchen. The main roads we see most often are the M27, the M271 spur to the docks, the M3 where it meets the M27, and the A33 running into the centre.
Beyond the city boundary we also reach Eastleigh a few miles to the north, Romsey to the north-west and Winchester further up the M3, along with the villages in between.
Port Traffic and the Screws It Leaves Behind
Roads that carry a lot of freight and building traffic tend to collect bits of metal: screws, bolts, offcuts of banding. In a port city that means plenty of slow punctures picked up without the driver noticing anything at all.
Once a fortnight, take a minute to walk round the car and run your eye over each tread. Something shiny sitting in the grooves is worth a closer look. Leave it where it is, because pulling it out usually lets the air go much faster. If the tyre is holding pressure, book a repair for the same day; if it has gone soft, keep the car parked and let us come to it rather than driving to the nearest garage on a tyre that is losing air.
Book a Southampton Call-Out
Ring 07989 606060 at any time, or message us on WhatsApp or through the contact form. It helps to tell us the street or nearest junction, the registration, and the size printed on the side of the tyre, such as 205/55 R16.
