Tyre trouble in Warwick when you least expect it
Around Warwick, a tyre can let go in very different places within a couple of miles. One driver hears a bang on the M40 just short of the Longbridge interchange, another finds a soft tyre on a narrow street near the town centre, and a third limps along a dark lane towards Barford with the warning light glowing. Whichever of those is you, give us a call. We pick up the phone around the clock, every day of the week, and dispatch the closest available fitter with a tyre to match yours.
We aim to arrive within 60 minutes in most cases, depending on where you are and the traffic on the way. You'll get an honest estimate when you ring.
Pulling over on the M40, the A46 and the lanes
- M40, junctions 13 to 15: stop on the hard shoulder or in an emergency area, as far left as you can. Hazards on, everyone out by the left-hand doors, and wait behind the barrier rather than beside the car. In an emergency area, or if the car is stuck in a live lane, phone National Highways on 0300 123 5000. If you can't get out safely, stay belted in with the hazards on and call 999. Our motorway flat tyre advice covers each step.
- Longbridge roundabout and the A46: junction 15 joins the M40, the A46 and the A429 and gets very busy. Don't stop on the roundabout or its approaches. Carry on slowly to the next exit, lay-by or side road, then pull right off the carriageway.
- Country roads to Sherbourne, Barford or Leek Wootton: with no street lights and tight verges, choose a field gateway or a wider stretch where oncoming drivers can see you. Wait away from the car, not behind it.
Driven here from elsewhere?
Plenty of people pass through Warwick on day trips, business visits or a stop off the M40, and don't know the roads. That doesn't matter to us. If you can't name the street, read out the nearest road sign or use the what3words app, or drop a pin on WhatsApp and we'll find you from that. On the motorway, the numbered marker posts along the hard shoulder pinpoint your position, and the junction you last passed and your direction are enough to get started.
If you're with passengers, children or a dog, get everyone out on the side away from the traffic and keep them together, well back from the road, until the fitter arrives.
Replacing or repairing at the side of the road
When the fitter arrives they check whether the tyre can safely be saved. A small puncture in the central part of the tread, under 6 mm and on a tyre that hasn't been driven flat, can usually be repaired in line with British Standard guidance. If not, a new tyre goes on where you are, from our premium, mid-range or budget ranges and backed by the manufacturer's guarantee. Wheel balancing is free and we take the old tyre away for free too.
On a hard shoulder or a blind bend it may not be safe to work at all. Then our breakdown recovery service moves the car somewhere suitable before the tyre is changed.
Locking wheel nut key: without it, no fitter can get the wheel off. It usually lives in the glovebox or alongside the jack, so check while you wait.
