Mobile Tyre Fitting in Warrington

Few towns have as many motorway junctions on their doorstep as Warrington. The M6, M62 and M56 all pass close by, which makes it an easy place to get out of and a common place to pick up a flat on the way. Drivers from Padgate, Woolston and Birchwood use junction 21 of the M6, people in Great Sankey and Westbrook join the M62 at junction 8, and anyone coming up from the south tends to leave the M56 at junction 10 and follow the A49 into town.

Many newer cars come with a thin space-saver wheel instead of a full-size spare, and a lot of drivers only find out what that means at the side of the M62. These wheels are meant to get you a short distance at reduced speed. Most carry a limit of 50mph, printed on the wheel or in the handbook, and they don't grip or brake like a normal tyre.

In a town criss-crossed by motorways, that matters. Joining the M6 at 50mph on a skinny spare is uncomfortable and can be risky. If you have had to fit one, keep to the speed limit on the wheel, avoid long runs, and get the proper tyre replaced as soon as you can. It's also worth checking the spare's pressure now and again: they are often found flat at exactly the moment they are needed.
