Tyres Fitted at the End of the A55
Holyhead is where the road runs out. The A55 and the older A5 both cross the Stanley Embankment onto Holy Island and finish within a stone's throw of the ferry port, so the town sees a steady flow of cars, vans and lorries passing through on their way to and from Ireland, alongside everyday local traffic.
Being at the far western tip of Anglesey also means a long way from anywhere if something goes wrong. A flat on the way to a sailing, a puncture in a residential street, or a damaged tyre on the drive at Trearddur Bay can all be dealt with by a mobile fitter who comes to the car, rather than you having to find a workshop with the right tyre in stock.
Our service runs day and night, all week. Where possible we aim to reach you within 60 minutes, though distances on the island and traffic around sailing times can affect that.
Why a Mobile Fitter Suits Holy Island
On an island, getting a car with a flat to a garage can be a real headache. A fitter who travels to you avoids all of that. When you call, the job goes to the nearest available member of our network, which numbers more than 100 experienced mobile fitters across England and Wales.
They'll check the damage, repair the tyre if it's safe to do so, or replace it with a new one that carries the manufacturer's guarantee. Wheel balancing and getting rid of the old tyre are both free of charge.
When the work is finished, pay by card, cash or bank transfer. No hidden fees are added.
Tyre and Recovery Services in Holyhead
- New tyres, fitted where you are: budget to premium options for your home, workplace or a car park near the port.
- Puncture repair: when the hole is small and in the main tread, we repair the tyre instead of replacing it.
- Van and light commercial tyres: for businesses on the Penrhos Industrial Estate and drivers with vans heading for the ferry.
- Breakdown recovery: for when the problem is bigger than a tyre and the vehicle needs moving.
Holyhead, Trearddur Bay, Valley and the Rest of Anglesey
In the town we cover the centre and port area, Morawelon, London Road, Porthyfelin and Kingsland. The Penrhos Industrial Estate, reached from junction 2 of the A55 via the A5153, is part of our patch too.
Elsewhere on Holy Island we reach Trearddur Bay, and across the embankment we go to Valley and along the A55 and A5 across Anglesey. On the mainland side, we also cover Bangor and Caernarfon.
Before the Ferry: A Quick Tyre Check
Many people arriving in Holyhead have just driven the full length of the A55, often with a fully loaded car, and some have a long drive ahead on the other side of the Irish Sea too. A heavily laden car needs higher tyre pressures than one carrying just the driver; the door sticker or handbook usually gives a separate figure for a full load.
Set them before you leave home, while the tyres are cold, and look over each tyre for nails, cuts or uneven wear. If a warning light comes on or the steering starts to pull on the way, stop safely and have it checked rather than pushing on to make the boat. Finding a problem in the queue at the port is far better than finding it at speed on a motorway after you land.
