No Spare? Think Twice About the Sealant Kit
Lots of newer cars leave the factory without a spare wheel, carrying a small compressor and a bottle of sealant instead. The kit can get you moving after a small puncture, but it has limits. It won't fix a cut sidewall or a large hole, and you're usually told to keep to a low speed and a short distance afterwards.
There's a catch, too. Once sealant is inside a tyre, some repairers won't attempt a plug repair because the residue makes it hard to do safely, so a tyre that could have been fixed may need replacing. If you're parked safely at home in Clevedon, it's often better to leave the kit in the boot and call a fitter out. If you do use it, tell us when you ring.
Check the use-by date on the sealant bottle as well. It does go off, and an out-of-date bottle is one more thing that can let you down on a dark evening.
