Newport Tyre Fitting Without the Garage Trip
The M4 is a big part of driving in Newport. The motorway runs straight through the city between junctions 24 and 28, squeezing through the twin Brynglas Tunnels on the way, and a huge amount of local traffic joins and leaves it every day. Add the A48, the A4051 Malpas Road heading north and the A4042 towards Cwmbran, and you have a city where most car journeys involve at least one busy main road.
If a tyre gives out on one of those roads, or you discover a flat on the drive before work, a mobile fitter can come to you. We operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and aim to reach drivers within 60 minutes in most cases. Motorway congestion around Newport can affect timings, so we'll give you an honest estimate when you call.
Not every job is a motorway emergency. We're often called to residential streets in Malpas or Rogerstone where a car has a slow puncture, to a works car park where someone has come out at the end of a shift to a flat, or to a family who would rather have new tyres fitted on the drive than spend a Saturday morning at a garage. Planned fittings are welcome too: tell us a time and place and we'll work around it.
What to Expect When You Ring
We ask three things: where the car is, what has happened, and the tyre size if you can find it. From there, the job goes to the nearest free fitter in our network of more than 100 across England and Wales, who comes out with the tyre and the tools to fit it.
- Wheel balancing is included at no extra cost.
- Your old tyre is taken away and disposed of for free.
- New tyres come with the manufacturer's guarantee.
- You can pay by card, cash or bank transfer, and there are no hidden fees.
Services Available Across Newport
- Mobile tyre fitting: a replacement tyre fitted at home in Bettws, at the office in the city centre or in a retail park car park, with tyres to suit most budgets.
- Puncture repair: if the hole is small and away from the shoulder, we repair it to British Standard guidance; if not, we fit a new tyre there and then.
- Van tyres: a lot of vans run between Newport, Cardiff and Bristol each day, and we fit commercial tyres wherever yours has stopped.
- Breakdown recovery: for a car that can't be safely repaired at the roadside, including a vehicle stranded after a motorway blowout.
Districts and Roads Our Fitters Cover
Across the city we cover Caerleon, Malpas, Bettws, Rogerstone, Maindee, Christchurch, Lliswerry and Brynglas, plus the centre itself. On the road network, that means every M4 junction from 24 to 28 along with the A48, the A4051 and the A4042, including the link to junction 25A.
Newport's neighbours are covered too: Cwmbran to the north, Caerphilly to the west, Chepstow towards the border and Cardiff, about twelve miles along the M4.
Tyre Trouble Near the Brynglas Tunnels
Losing a tyre on the M4 through Newport is stressful, because the motorway narrows and traffic often bunches up around the tunnels. If you feel a tyre going while you're inside a tunnel, don't stop there unless you have no choice. Turn on your hazard lights, slow down gently and keep going until you're out and can reach the hard shoulder, an emergency area or the next exit.
Once stopped, get everyone out on the side away from traffic and wait behind the barrier before calling us or the emergency services. Never try to change a wheel yourself on a live motorway lane. And to avoid it in the first place, take a look at your tyres before a long M4 trip: low pressure is the most common cause of a tyre overheating and failing at speed.
