Terraced Streets and Sidewall Damage
Many Cardiff streets are lined with parked cars on both sides, and squeezing into a gap often means rubbing the kerb. One scrape rarely matters, but repeated contact can cut or bulge the sidewall. A bulge means the cords inside the tyre are damaged, and that tyre can fail without warning.
Every few weeks, crouch down and look along the outer face of the kerb-side tyres. Look for bulges, cuts deep enough to show cord, or chunks missing near the rim. Sidewall damage can't be repaired, so if you spot any, have the tyre replaced rather than waiting for it to go on the A48 at rush hour.
