Mobile Tyres for Pontypridd and the Taff Valley
Pontypridd is where the Rhondda valleys open out into the Taff, and it's a natural crossroads for traffic. The A470 carries drivers south towards Cardiff and north towards Merthyr Tydfil, and roads fan out from the town into the Rhondda. Treforest, right next door, adds plenty of its own traffic, and on-street parking is the norm in many of the terraced streets climbing the valley sides.
Tyre trouble round here tends to happen in awkward spots: halfway up a steep terrace, in a busy car park, or in a lay-by on the A470. We send a mobile fitter to the car so you aren't forced to drive it anywhere. The service runs all day and all night, and in most cases we aim to be there within an hour, depending on traffic and exactly where you are.
On a steep street, tell us which way the car is facing and whether it's in gear or on the handbrake. The fitter will want to chock the wheels and make sure the car is stable before lifting it, and knowing the layout in advance helps.
Why Pontypridd Drivers Use a Mobile Service
The obvious reason is that you don't have to move a car on a damaged tyre. But there are others. A mobile fitter works around you: on your drive before work, at your workplace during the day, or outside the house in the evening.
- Jobs go to the nearest free fitter from our network of 100+ across England and Wales.
- Balancing the wheel and recycling your old tyre are both free.
- Every new tyre is covered by the manufacturer's guarantee.
- You can pay by card, cash or bank transfer, with no surprise charges.
The Work We Carry Out Locally
Mobile tyre fitting is the job we do most: replacing worn or damaged tyres at your address, with a choice of price ranges.
For a simple puncture, tyre repair may be all you need. If the hole is within the central three-quarters of the tread and under 6 mm, it can be fixed. Damage on the shoulder or sidewall means a new tyre.
Vans working the valley routes can get van tyres fitted on site, and if the car can't be fixed where it stopped, breakdown recovery is available.
Whichever service you need, the fitter will look at the tyre first and explain what they've found. If a repair is possible, that's what we'll do; we won't push a new tyre on you when the old one can be saved.
Treforest, the Rhondda and Nearby Towns
We cover Pontypridd town centre, Treforest and the streets around Taff Vale Park, plus the routes into the Rhondda and the A470 corridor in both directions. Nantgarw, down the valley towards Cardiff, is also on our list.
From Pontypridd it's a short run to neighbouring towns we serve: Cardiff to the south, Caerphilly to the east, and Merthyr Tydfil at the top of the A470.
Has the Car Been Sitting for Weeks?
Cars that are only used now and then, such as a second car, one left on the street while you work away, or a car that's been parked up over a long holiday, often have tyre problems that a daily driver doesn't. Tyres lose a little pressure naturally every month, and a car left standing can end up with one or more seriously under-inflated.
Before driving a car that's been parked for a while, walk round it and look at each tyre. Check the pressures cold and top them up to the figures in the handbook. Look for cracking in the sidewalls, which shows the rubber is ageing. If a tyre is completely flat, don't drive on it to the nearest air line: it may have been damaged and should be checked.
