Help with a flat in Swansea, around the clock
Swansea is wrapped by the M4 to the north, with junctions 42 to 47 serving different parts of the city, and most journeys in and out use one of them. That means tyre emergencies here range from a blowout between Morriston and Penllergaer to a flat spotted on a Sketty driveway at six in the morning, or a puncture on a Gower lane miles from a garage. Call us at any hour. The phone is staffed 24 hours a day, every day, and the closest available fitter comes out with a new tyre.
We aim to reach you within 60 minutes in most cases. Rural Gower and busy commuter times can add to that, and we'll be straight with you about timings on the call.
Getting out of danger first
Before you worry about the wheel, make sure nobody is at risk:
- On the M4: move onto the hard shoulder, turn on your hazard lights and get everyone out through the left-hand doors. Wait behind the barrier and don't attempt the wheel change. Motorways and trunk roads in Wales are managed by Traffic Wales, which takes urgent incident reports on 0300 123 1213; call 999 if anyone is in danger or the car is stuck in a live lane.
- On Fabian Way or the A4067: these carry heavy traffic into the city. Slow gently and pull off at a side road or lay-by instead of stopping in the lane.
- On Gower or hill roads: lanes can be narrow, steep and unlit. Stop where approaching drivers will see you in good time, put the hazards on and wait off the road if you can.
Don't drive on a deflated tyre to reach a better spot. The sidewall breaks down quickly, and a puncture that could have been repaired becomes a replacement.
What the fitter can do there and then
If the damage is a small puncture in the central tread area and the tyre hasn't been run flat, the fitter can often repair it to British Standard guidance. Damage near the edge, cuts in the sidewall and tyres driven on flat need replacing, and the fitter will do that beside the car. If it's simply not safe to work where you've stopped, we can arrange breakdown recovery.
We fit premium, mid-range and budget tyres backed by the manufacturer's guarantee, with free wheel balancing and free disposal of the old tyre.
Locking wheel nuts: if your car has them, dig out the key while you wait. It's usually in the glovebox or tucked in with the jack, and without it the wheel stays on.
Coast roads, valley climbs and city potholes
Swansea drivers deal with a bit of everything. The run along the bay to Mumbles is slow and stop-start, the A4067 climbs up the Swansea Valley, and the lanes across Gower are narrow with stone edges and loose gravel that can nick a tyre. A slow leak picked up on any of these often shows itself days later on a faster M4 trip. Our guide to whether a tyre with a nail or screw can be repaired helps if you've spotted something in the tread.
If a tyre keeps losing a few psi every week, get it looked at before the drive to work on the motorway rather than after it lets go at junction 45.
Swansea areas and nearby towns
We cover the city and its suburbs, including Sketty, Mumbles, Landore, Morriston and Gorseinon, plus the Gower peninsula. On the road network that means the M4 from junction 42 to 47, Fabian Way, the A483 and the A4067. Neighbouring towns we reach include Llanelli, Neath and Port Talbot.
Have these ready when you ring
- Your location: road name or M4 junction and direction, a postcode or a what3words reference.
- What's happened: a puncture, a blowout, a bulge, or a warning light that won't go off.
- The tyre size from the sidewall, such as 205/60 R16, or your registration.
- Whether you're parked somewhere safe to wait.
