Clay Roads, Coast Roads and Everything Between
St Austell sits on the south coast of Cornwall with the china clay landscape rising to the north and St Austell Bay below it. Drivers here split their time between the A390, which runs east and west through the town, the A391 up towards Bodmin, and plenty of smaller roads out to the clay villages and the beaches. Heavy vehicles, grit and steep gradients all take a toll on tyres.
If one lets you down in St Austell, you don't have to find a garage. We send a mobile fitter to the car, with the tyre already in the van. That might be your driveway in Poltair, a supermarket car park, or a verge on the road towards Par. We're available around the clock, seven days a week, and usually aim to arrive within 60 minutes, depending on where you are and the traffic.
What You Get With Every Fitting
Once you've told us where you are, the nearest member of our network of 100+ fitters across England and Wales takes the job. They check the tyre, fit the new one and set you on your way. Included as standard:
- wheel balancing, free
- removal and disposal of the old tyre, free
- the manufacturer's guarantee on the new tyre
- a choice of premium, mid-range or budget brands
Prices depend on the tyre size and brand, the time and the location, but there are never hidden fees. Pay by cash, card or bank transfer.
Our St Austell Services
Our core service is mobile tyre fitting, at home, at work or wherever the car has stopped. If you've picked up a nail, puncture repair may be possible: we repair holes up to 6 mm in the central three-quarters of the tread, and replace the tyre if the damage is outside that zone.
Firms running vans between the town, the clay works and the coast can use our van tyre service. For a car that can't be fixed at the roadside, such as one with a cracked alloy, we offer breakdown recovery.
From Gover to the Bay: Where Our Fitters Go
In town we cover Bethel, Gover, Mount Charles, Poltair and Holmbush. Along the coast we reach Charlestown, Carlyon Bay, Tregrehan and Par, and the villages up on Hensbarrow Downs to the north.
The A391 takes our fitters up to Bodmin, while the A390 heads west to Truro. We also cover drivers making the trip up to Newquay on the north coast.
Some of the lanes around the clay villages are narrow and have few safe places to stop. If you get a flat on one, pull in as far as you can, put your hazards on and wait somewhere away from the traffic. Tell us which way you were heading and the last village you passed, and the fitter will find you.
Watch for Stones Lodged in the Tread
Roads near the working pits and quarries north of St Austell collect grit and sharp stones dropped by lorries. A small stone wedged in a tread groove can work its way deeper over a few weeks, until it breaks through and causes a slow leak.
Every so often, especially if you drive past the clay works regularly, crouch down and look along the tread. Flick out loose stones with a blunt tool, but leave anything that seems to be pushed into the rubber: pulling it out can turn a repairable puncture into a flat. Call us instead and we'll check whether it can be repaired.
How to Reach Us in St Austell
The quickest way is to call 07989 606060, day or night. WhatsApp and our contact form work too. Have your location, registration and tyre size ready (it's printed on the side of the tyre) and we'll do the rest.
Can't make out the numbers on the tyre? Take a clear photo of the sidewall and send it to us on WhatsApp instead.
