Sea Air, Corroded Rims and Slow Leaks
Living close to the sea means salt in the air, and in winter there is road salt on top. Over time this can corrode alloy wheels where the tyre bead sits against the rim. Once the metal becomes pitted, air can seep out slowly, and you end up topping up the same tyre every week without finding any nail or screw.
If one tyre keeps losing pressure and the tread looks clean, a bead leak or a tired valve is a likely cause. Rinsing the wheels with fresh water now and again helps. When the tyre is next off, a fitter can clean the bead seat and fit a new valve, which often cures the leak. Ignoring it is a bad idea: running a tyre under-inflated wears it faster and makes a blowout more likely.
