Lowestoft Tyre Fitting, North and South of the Water
Lake Lothing splits Lowestoft in two, and for years the old bascule bridge by the harbour was the bottleneck every driver knew. Since September 2024 the Gull Wing bridge has carried the A12 across the water as well, taking a lot of that pressure off. Even so, the town's roads still funnel traffic towards a few key routes: the A12 heading south past Kessingland, the A47 north to Great Yarmouth, and the A146 out through Carlton Colville to Beccles.
Wherever you are when a tyre gives up, on either side of the lake, we'll send a mobile fitter to you. We cover the whole town 24 hours a day and aim to reach most customers within an hour, depending on how far away the nearest fitter is and how the traffic is moving.
What's Included When We Come Out
You'll deal with one of more than 100 mobile fitters we work with across England and Wales, each with years of experience behind them. Here's what to expect:
- A quick assessment. The fitter inspects the tyre and tells you honestly whether it can be repaired.
- The work, done at the car. Either a repair or a new tyre, with the wheel balanced free of charge afterwards.
- Clearing up. Your old tyre goes with the fitter for proper disposal, again at no cost to you.
Any new tyre is backed by the manufacturer's guarantee. Payment is by card, cash or bank transfer, and you won't find hidden charges on the bill.

Where Our Lowestoft Fitters Go
North of Lake Lothing we cover the town centre, Normanston, Gunton and Corton. South of the water our fitters reach Kirkley, Pakefield, Oulton Broad and Carlton Colville, and we head down the A12 to Kessingland as well.
Up the coast, we cover Great Yarmouth, and inland there's Norwich. Both are a straightforward drive for our fitters, so a puncture on the way there or back is no problem.
When you call, it really helps to say which side of Lake Lothing you're on and which bridge is nearest. With two crossings now in use and both able to lift for boats, that small detail lets the fitter choose the best route and avoid getting held up at the water.
Uneven Wear: Check the Inside Edge
Most people check tread depth by looking at the outer edge of the tyre, because that's the part they can see. The trouble is that tyres often wear faster on the inner edge, especially if the wheel alignment has been knocked out by a pothole or a heavy hit on a kerb.
Turn the steering wheel fully to one side and you'll be able to see more of the front tyres. Run a hand round the inside shoulder too. If one edge is much more worn than the other, or bald while the middle looks fine, get the alignment checked and the tyre replaced. A tyre worn on the inside can look perfectly legal from the kerb when it isn't.
