Tyre Fitting at the End of the A14
Felixstowe sits on a peninsula between the Orwell and the Deben, and almost every journey out of town starts on the A14. That road ends at the container port, so locals share it with heavy freight traffic all the way to the Orwell Bridge at Ipswich and beyond. When something goes wrong on the dock roundabout or the bridge, the whole peninsula can slow to a crawl, and that's a bad time to be hunting for a tyre garage.
So we bring the fitter to you. Our mobile technicians fit tyres outside your home in Walton, in a seafront car park or at your workplace near the port, and they work all hours, every day. We aim to reach you within 60 minutes in most cases, although port traffic can affect that.
Here's How a Call-Out Goes
First, you get in touch and tell us the problem. If you can, send a picture of the tyre or read out the numbers on its side.
Next, we pick a fitter from our network of over 100 around England and Wales, choosing one who can get to the peninsula fastest.
Then the fitter arrives and either repairs or replaces the tyre. Balancing is done free as part of the job, and the old tyre is taken away for disposal at no cost. New tyres are covered by the manufacturer's guarantee, and you can pay by card, cash or bank transfer. There's nothing hidden in the price.
Felixstowe Tyre Services
- Mobile tyre fitting for cars, with a choice of premium, mid-range or budget tyres depending on what you need.
- Van tyre fitting is a big part of what we do here, given how many people drive for logistics and haulage businesses linked to the port.
- Puncture repair for straightforward holes in the main part of the tread; anything too close to the edge means a new tyre for safety.
- Breakdown recovery if your vehicle can't be made safe to drive at the roadside.
Across the Peninsula and Towards Ipswich
We cover the whole of Felixstowe, from the town centre and seafront to Walton and the quieter streets of Old Felixstowe up towards the Deben. Just inland, the Trimley villages off the A14 are within easy reach, as are the roads around the port itself.
Going west along the A14, our fitters also serve Ipswich and Stowmarket. If you break down anywhere on that route, we can usually get someone to you.
Because there's essentially one main road off the peninsula, a breakdown can leave you stuck in a long queue before you even reach the outskirts. If your tyre fails in slow traffic, move to the side when it's safe, switch on your hazards and let us know exactly which stretch you're on. That way the fitter can plan the quickest route round the queue to reach you.
Sea Air and Slow Leaks From Alloy Wheels
Living by the sea is hard on alloy wheels. Salt in the air, and salt on the roads in winter, slowly corrode the rim where the tyre bead seats against it. Over time that surface becomes rough and pitted, and air begins to seep out even though there's no hole in the tyre.
If a tyre keeps going soft and nobody can find a puncture, ask the fitter to check the bead seat. Cleaning back the corrosion and resealing the bead often cures it. Washing the wheels now and then, including the inner face, helps slow the process down.
