Rushden Tip: Don't Ignore the Tyre Pressure Light
Most cars built in the last decade or so have a tyre pressure monitoring system, and the amber warning light (a horseshoe shape with an exclamation mark) is easy to dismiss as a sensor fault. Often, though, it is the first sign of a slow puncture, long before the tyre looks flat.
If the light comes on, check all four pressures with a gauge as soon as you can. If one is low, top it up and keep an eye on it; if it drops again, there is probably a puncture. Cars with run-flat tyres need extra care, because they can look almost normal while deflated and have a limited distance and speed once they've lost pressure. Check the handbook for your car's limits and call us rather than pushing on.
