Thurrock's Mobile Tyre Service, Based Around Grays
Grays lies on the north bank of the Thames, a couple of miles east of the M25. Junction 30 and the Dartford Crossing approach on the A282 are close by, the A13 runs along the top of the town, and the A1089 links the A13 down to Tilbury and its docks. The A126 London Road heads west from the town centre towards the shopping area at Lakeside. That mix of motorway, port and local traffic means plenty of tyres meet trouble here.
Rather than nursing a damaged tyre to a garage, call us and a fitter will drive out to you. The van carries the tyres and tools needed to repair or replace on the spot, whether you're at home in Stifford Clays or stuck near a roundabout on the A1089. We're on call 24/7 and aim to arrive within 60 minutes in most cases, depending on traffic around the crossing.
How We Handle a Call in Grays
First, we need the basics: where you are, what has happened to the tyre and the size printed on its sidewall. We then hand the job to the closest available fitter from our network of over 100 across England and Wales. When they arrive, they'll inspect the tyre and either repair it or fit a replacement.
Balancing is done at no charge and your old tyre is taken away for free. Every new tyre keeps its manufacturer's guarantee. The price is confirmed before any work, with no hidden fees, and you can pay with cash, a card or a bank transfer.
What Our Grays Fitters Offer
- Mobile tyre fitting: premium, mid-range and budget tyres, fitted at home in Little Thurrock or in the car park where you work.
- Puncture repair: a nail or screw in the centre of the tread, under 6 mm, can usually be repaired, which costs less than a new tyre.
- Van tyres: for vans shuttling between Grays, Tilbury docks and the A13, fitted wherever they happen to be parked so the next delivery isn't missed.
- Breakdown recovery: for wheel damage or a car that's stopped in an unsafe spot on the A13 or near junction 30.
Chafford Hundred, Stifford and the Rest of Thurrock
We cover the town centre and Grays Riverside, Little Thurrock, Stifford Clays, North and South Stifford, and Chafford Hundred, plus West Thurrock and the Lakeside area. Chadwell St Mary and Tilbury, just to the east, are part of our patch too, as are the A13, A1089, A126 and the roads around M25 junction 30.
Across the river via the crossing, our fitters work in Dartford. East along the A13 we also cover Basildon.
Port Roads and Screw Punctures
Roads near docks, yards and building sites tend to collect bits of metal: screws, nails, offcuts dropped from lorries and skips. Around Grays and Tilbury, that makes the classic screw-in-the-tread puncture a common call.
If you spot a screw head in your tyre, don't pull it out. Left in place it often slows the leak to a trickle, which buys you time. Check the pressure, and if it's dropping, stop driving on it, because running a tyre flat ruins the sidewall and turns a cheap repair into a replacement. Where the screw sits matters: in the central three-quarters of the tread it can usually be repaired, but close to the edge or in the sidewall it can't. Take a photo, send it to us on WhatsApp, and we'll tell you which it's likely to be before the fitter arrives.
