Glossop's Mobile Tyre Fitters
Glossop sits in the far north-west corner of Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District and close to the borders with Greater Manchester and Yorkshire. That location shapes how people drive here. Many head west towards Manchester and the M67, while the A57 Snake Pass climbs east over the moors to Sheffield and the A628 Woodhead route crosses the Pennines to the north. Southbound, the A624 runs through Hayfield and on to Chapel-en-le-Frith.
Wherever you get a flat, whether it's on a hillside street in town or in a lay-by on one of those passes, we can send a fitter to you. We're available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and in most cases aim to arrive within 60 minutes. On the high roads, distance and weather can add to that.
Closer to home, the town has plenty of steep streets lined with stone terraces, where cars are parked on the road and space is tight. That's no obstacle for us. A fitter can usually work on the kerbside with the car where it is, so you don't need to move it, borrow a jack or find a garage that can fit you in this week. If the car is in a spot where working on it isn't safe, we'll say so and suggest the next best option.
What a Call-Out Involves
- Give us a ring. Tell us where the car is and, if you can, the tyre size from the sidewall.
- We find the nearest fitter. Our network covers England and Wales with more than 100 mobile fitters, so we pick the one best placed to get to Glossopdale.
- The tyre is sorted on site. Repaired if it's safe to, replaced if not, with free balancing and free disposal of the old tyre.
New tyres carry the manufacturer's guarantee. You pay by card, cash or bank transfer at the end, and there are no hidden fees.
How We Help Glossop Drivers
- Mobile tyre fitting: car tyres from budget to premium, fitted on your drive in Simmondley or outside work.
- Puncture repair: a small puncture in the central tread is often repairable, so you keep the tyre you already paid for.
- Van tyres: for vans making regular runs over to Manchester or across the Pennines, fitted where you're parked.
- Breakdown recovery: if you're stuck on an exposed pass where working on the car isn't safe, we can get it moved.
Hadfield, Gamesley, Charlesworth and the Passes
We cover the town itself, Old Glossop, Whitfield, Dinting and Simmondley, along with Hadfield, Padfield, Charlesworth and Gamesley. On the main roads, our fitters attend the A57, A624 and A628, and the B6105 up to Crowden.
We also travel to Buxton to the south and Manchester to the west, and cover the route over the Snake Pass towards Sheffield.
Before You Cross the Snake or Woodhead
Both passes are long, exposed and in places a long way from help. A tyre that's slightly under-inflated, or one carrying a bigger load than usual, works harder on the long climbs and descents, and that's where weak tyres tend to give up.
Before a trip over the tops, check the pressures with the tyres cold. If you've got a full car or a loaded boot, use the higher laden figures shown in your handbook or on the door pillar sticker. Have a look for cuts or bulges too. It also helps to know whether you carry a spare, a space-saver or just an inflation kit, as that changes what you can do if something goes wrong in a spot with no phone signal.
