Tyres Replaced and Repaired Across Chatham
Chatham is a town of steep hills and valleys, and its roads reflect that. The A2 crosses the high street, climbs Star Hill and follows New Road above the town centre before dropping towards Luton Arches. The A230 Maidstone Road heads south up the hill, while the A229 and M2 junction 3 sit at the southern edge near Blue Bell Hill. To the north, the Medway Tunnel carries the A289 under the river to Strood.
Short trips up and down those gradients, plus plenty of parking on narrow terraced streets, make for a steady supply of kerbed sidewalls and slow punctures. Rather than nurse the car to a workshop, you can have a fitter come to the address. We cover Chatham 24 hours a day and aim to be with you within 60 minutes in most cases, depending on traffic.
A Chatham Call-Out, Step by Step
- Get in touch. Phone, WhatsApp or the web form all work. Mention whether the car is on a hill, as the fitter will plan for it.
- Share your tyre size. It's on the sidewall, written like 195/65 R15. A photo sent by WhatsApp is just as good.
- Your nearest fitter heads over. We have a network of more than 100 mobile fitters across England and Wales, so someone near the Medway Towns is usually free.
- The job is done and the old tyre goes with them. Balancing and disposal are free, and new tyres come with the manufacturer's guarantee.
We take card, cash or bank transfer, and our competitive prices carry no hidden fees.
On a slope, leave the handbrake on and the car in gear or in park while you wait. The fitter will chock the wheels before lifting the car, but it helps if nobody tries to move it in the meantime.
Chatham Tyre Services
- Mobile tyre fitting: tyres across the price range fitted at homes in Walderslade, Lordswood or Princes Park, or at your workplace.
- Puncture repair: if the puncture is small and well inside the tread, a proper repair gets you going without the cost of a new tyre.
- Van tyres: for vans working from local industrial units and making deliveries around the Medway Towns.
- Breakdown recovery: when a car can't safely be fixed where it is, for instance on a steep bend or in the Medway Tunnel approaches.
Where in Chatham Our Fitters Work
We cover the town centre and Luton, along with the big southern suburbs: Walderslade, including the Davis Estate, Wayfield, Weeds Wood and Walderslade Woods, plus Lordswood and Princes Park. To the north we reach the riverside housing on St Mary's Island and the Chatham Maritime area. Roads include the A2, A229, A230 and A289, and the M2 at junction 3.
Neighbouring areas we serve include Rochester, Gillingham and, down the A229, Maidstone.
When the Pressure Warning Light Comes On
Most cars built in the last decade or so have a tyre pressure monitoring system, and the amber warning light often appears on the first cold morning of autumn. Air contracts as the temperature falls, so a tyre that was borderline in summer can drop below the warning level overnight.
Don't ignore it or simply reset it. Check all four tyres with a gauge, top them up to the pressures shown in the door pillar or handbook, and drive a short distance so the system can relearn. If the light returns within a day or two, or one tyre is noticeably lower than the rest, there is probably a slow puncture or a leaking valve, and it is worth getting it looked at before it goes completely flat on one of Chatham's hills.
