Camberley tyre emergencies, sorted where you are
Camberley sits between two M3 junctions and on the A30, with the A331 Blackwater Valley road running down its western edge. A lot of local driving is fast and a lot of it happens early or late: commuters heading up the M3 before dawn, people coming back from Heathrow at midnight, workers at Frimley Park Hospital changing shifts. A flat on any of those journeys can't wait for a garage to open. Call us instead. We answer at any hour, every day, and send the nearest available mobile fitter with a tyre for your car.
We aim to be with you within 60 minutes in most cases, though it depends on your location and on traffic, which around junctions 3 and 4 can change quickly. We'll give you an honest estimate when you call.
What to do on the M3 smart motorway
Between junctions 2 and 4a the M3 is all lane running. There is no hard shoulder through Camberley: the old one is now a traffic lane, and emergency areas marked with orange tarmac and blue signs are provided instead. If a tyre fails on that section:
- Aim for the next exit or emergency area if the car can get there slowly. Junction 3 for Lightwater and Bagshot and junction 4 for Frimley are the local exits.
- Once in an emergency area, put the hazards on, get out on the left-hand side and wait behind the barrier. Contact National Highways on 0300 123 5000 or with the roadside SOS phone so the lane can be managed when you rejoin.
- If the car stops in a running lane, stay inside with your belt fastened and the hazards on, and call 999. Leave only if it's clearly safe to get beyond the barrier.
Don't attempt a wheel change at the side of the M3 under any circumstances. Our motorway flat tyre advice explains why and what happens next.
The A331, A30 and the roads through the heath
The A331 is a fast dual carriageway, and the A30 London Road and A322 carry heavy traffic towards Bagshot and Bracknell. If a tyre goes on one of these, slow down gradually and leave at the next slip road or turning rather than stopping in a lane. Some of the roads around the town run through heath and woodland with little or no lighting. If you end up on a dark verge, switch on the hazards and sidelights, get out away from the traffic and stand well back from the road. A high-visibility vest, if you keep one in the car, is worth putting on.
Back on the road: repair or replacement
The fitter will check the tyre carefully before recommending a fix. If the puncture is small, in the central part of the tread and the tyre hasn't been run flat, a repair to British Standard guidance may be possible. If not, we fit a new tyre at the roadside from premium, mid-range or budget brands, all covered by the manufacturer's guarantee, with free balancing and free disposal of the old one. Where it isn't safe to work, our breakdown recovery service can move the car first.
Find the locking nut key now. It's usually in the glovebox, the boot side pocket or with the jack. Without it the fitter can't get the wheel off, so it's worth checking before they arrive.
Camberley, Frimley and the villages we reach
Our fitters attend the town centre, Yorktown, Old Dean, Heatherside and Watchetts, as well as Frimley, Frimley Green, Mytchett, Deepcut, Lightwater and Windlesham. We also cover the M3 between junctions 3 and 4, the A30, the A331 and the A322. Neighbouring areas with their own pages include Bagshot, Bracknell and Aldershot.
Four facts that get a fitter moving
- Where the car is: the emergency area number or junction and direction on the M3, or the street name in town.
- The size on the tyre's sidewall, such as 235/45 R18, or the registration if you can't read it.
- Whether it's a run-flat tyre and whether the car carries a spare.
- Whether you and any passengers are out of the traffic and safe.
