Tyre Help on the English-Welsh Border
Oswestry is one of the oldest border towns in the country, sitting just on the English side with Wales a few minutes away. Three main roads meet here: the A5 linking Shrewsbury with Chirk and North Wales, the A483 between Wrexham and mid Wales, and the A495. Day to day, people drive into Wrexham, down to Shrewsbury, or out along the lanes to Gobowen, Whittington and the other villages.
When a tyre lets you down, you don't need to work out which side of the border the nearest garage is on. One of our mobile fitters comes to the car with the tyre already on the van and fits it where you are. We operate around the clock, all week, and aim to reach you within an hour in most cases, depending on traffic and on how rural your location is.
From Your Call to Back on the Road
- Tell us what's wrong and where. In town, a street name is plenty; out in the villages, a nearby junction or landmark helps.
- The nearest free fitter is sent. Our network of more than 100 mobile fitters spans England and Wales, which suits a town that sits right between the two.
- The tyre is repaired or replaced on the spot. Balancing and taking away the old tyre are free, and every new tyre carries its manufacturer's guarantee.
- You pay once it's done. Card, cash or bank transfer, and no hidden fees on the bill.
Most jobs are finished without you having to go anywhere: on your drive, outside work, or in the car park where you found the flat.
It works just as well if you're only passing through. Plenty of drivers stop in Oswestry on the way between the Midlands and North Wales, and a flat discovered at a fuel stop or in a car park can be sorted there and then.
Tyre Services for Oswestry and the Borderlands
- Mobile tyre fitting: budget, mid-range and premium tyres for cars, fitted at home in town or out in Morda, St Martin's or Weston Rhyn.
- Puncture repair: small punctures in the middle of the tread are repaired; damage to the shoulder or sidewall means a new tyre.
- Van tyres: for tradespeople and delivery drivers who cross between Shropshire and Wales on the A5 and A483.
- Breakdown recovery: when a damaged wheel or an unsafe location means the car has to be moved.

That Tyre Pressure Warning on a Cold Morning
Plenty of drivers here see the tyre pressure warning light come on during the first frosty mornings of autumn. Air contracts as it cools, so pressures drop overnight, and a tyre that was only slightly low the day before can tip below the warning threshold.
Don't just ignore the light. Pull in when it's safe, and check all four tyres with a gauge against the figures in your handbook or on the door sill, ideally before the car has been driven far. If they're all a little low, top them up and reset the system as the handbook describes. If one tyre is much lower than the others, or the light comes back within a day or two, you most likely have a puncture. On some cars the warning doesn't tell you which tyre, so check every one, and remember the spare if you have one.
