Mobile Tyre Fitting in Chesterfield

Chesterfield is one of those towns where you can be on the M1 within a few minutes of leaving home. The A617 runs out east past Hasland to junction 29, the A619 heads towards junction 30 and Staveley, and the A61 links the town with Sheffield to the north. Tread depth isn't the only thing that matters. Rubber hardens and cracks with age, especially on cars that don't do many miles or sit outside through the winter. A tyre with plenty of tread can still be past its best.

You can find the age on the sidewall: look for a four-digit code at the end of the DOT marking. The first two digits are the week and the last two are the year, so 2319 means the 23rd week of 2019. While you're looking, check for fine cracks between the tread blocks or around the sidewall. If you spot cracking, or the tyres are getting on in years, it's worth having them looked at before a long motorway run.
