Tyre Fitting on Both Levels of Bridgnorth
Bridgnorth is a town of two halves: High Town up on the higher ground on one bank of the Severn, and Low Town down by the river on the other, linked by steep roads. Getting anywhere else means one of the main roads radiating out of the valley, the A442 north to Telford and south to Kidderminster, the A458 to Shrewsbury and Stourbridge, or the A454 east to Wolverhampton. The A458 bypass takes through traffic around the south of the town.
Those routes are mostly single carriageway and winding, and a garage isn't always close when a tyre fails. So we come to you. A mobile fitter arrives with the tyre and the equipment and does the job in your street, on the drive or in a lay-by. Call-outs run 24 hours a day, every day, and in most cases we aim to arrive within 60 minutes; the rural roads and the time of day affect that.
What a Bridgnorth Call-Out Involves
- Let us know what's happened. Say whether you're in High Town, Low Town or out on one of the A roads, and read us the size off the tyre wall if you can.
- A fitter close to you sets off. Our network has more than 100 mobile fitters across England and Wales, so the nearest available one takes the job.
- Fitted or fixed in place. The fitter repairs or replaces the tyre where the car is parked. Balancing is free, the old tyre is taken away at no cost, and new tyres carry the manufacturer's guarantee.
You can pay by cash, card or bank transfer. There are no hidden fees added on top.
If you're parked on one of the steeper streets, mention it when you call. The fitter will want the car on as level a spot as possible before it goes up on the jack, and can advise you on the safest place to wait.
Services for Bridgnorth and the Surrounding Countryside
- Mobile tyre fitting: premium, mid-range and budget tyres fitted at home or at work, in town or out in the villages.
- Puncture repair: we repair rather than replace whenever the puncture is in the safe repair zone of the tread and under 6 mm.
- Van tyres: for tradespeople who travel out of Bridgnorth to jobs around Telford, Wolverhampton and the Black Country.
- Breakdown recovery: for a wheel that's damaged beyond a tyre change, or a car stuck on a narrow road with no safe place to work.
Where Our Fitters Go Around Bridgnorth
We cover High Town, Low Town and the rest of the town, plus Quatford, Oldbury and Danesford nearby, and the main routes in and out: the A442, A458 and A454 and the bypass.
Our fitters also reach Much Wenlock and the neighbouring towns of Telford, Kidderminster and Wolverhampton.
Steep Streets Wear Front Tyres Faster
Climbing and descending between Low Town and High Town several times a day works the front tyres hard. On most cars the fronts already do the steering and most of the braking, and on a front-wheel-drive car they deliver the power too. Add hill starts and tight turns, and the fronts can wear out well before the rears.
Every month or so, compare tread depth front and back, and look across the width of each tyre. Wear on the outer shoulders usually points to under-inflation; wear on one edge only can mean the alignment is out. Swapping fronts and rears at a sensible interval, where your handbook allows it, evens things out and gets more life from a set. Never fit a part-worn pair on the back with new ones on the front without good reason: the better tyres generally belong at the rear.
