Tyres Fitted Where You Are in Bath
Driving in Bath means climbing. Roads rise steeply out of the centre towards Lansdown, Combe Down and Odd Down, the terraced streets of Oldfield Park are lined with parked cars on both sides, and many visitors leave the car at a park and ride site rather than face the city-centre traffic. None of that is a good setting for changing a wheel yourself, and limping to a garage on a flat across the city is slow and risky.
Instead, ring us and a mobile fitter comes out to wherever the car is: outside your house in Larkhall, on a side road in Twerton, or in a car park at Newbridge. We work around the clock, every day of the year, and we aim to reach you within 60 minutes in most cases, though Bath's rush-hour queues can affect that.
From Phone Call to Fitted Tyre
The process is short. You tell us where you are, roughly what has happened and, if you can read it, the size on the tyre wall. We pass the job to an available fitter near Bath from our network of more than 100 across England and Wales, and they arrive with the tyre already on board.
- Balancing the new wheel is free.
- Your old tyre is taken away and disposed of at no charge.
- Every new tyre carries the manufacturer's guarantee.
- You can settle up by card, cash or bank transfer, and there are no hidden fees.
On a narrow street the fitter will look for a safe spot to work; if the car is on a steep slope, tell us when you call so they come prepared.
What We Can Do for Bath Motorists
- Mobile tyre fitting: budget, mid-range or premium tyres fitted on your drive, at your office or beside the road, so you aren't driving on a worn tyre up and down the city's hills.
- Puncture repair: a nail or screw in the middle of the tread can usually be plugged properly, which saves the cost of a new tyre. Damage near the edge or in the sidewall means a replacement instead.
- Van tyre fitting: builders, couriers and other trades vans working on Bath's houses and streets can get back on the road without a trip to a workshop.
- Breakdown recovery: when a wheel is buckled or the car is stuck somewhere unsafe, we can arrange to move it.
Bath Districts, Roads and Neighbouring Towns
We cover every part of the city, including Larkhall in the north east, Weston and Newbridge on the western side, Twerton, Oldfield Park, Odd Down, Combe Down and Lansdown. Our fitters also attend call-outs on the A4, the A36 and the A46 down from junction 18 of the M4, and at the Lansdown, Newbridge and Odd Down park and ride sites.
Beyond the city we reach drivers in Keynsham, Bristol, Corsham and Frome, plus the villages in between.
Hill Tip: Tread Depth Matters on Bath's Slopes
Coming down a steep, wet street with worn tyres is where grip runs out first. The legal minimum tread in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, but stopping distances in the rain grow noticeably well before that point, and on a downhill gradient you feel it.
A quick check is a 20p coin pushed into the main grooves: if you can see the outer band of the coin, the tread is getting low and it's worth planning a replacement. Look at the inside edge of each front tyre as well, since that is where wear hides. When you park on a slope, turn the wheels towards the kerb and keep the tyre off it rather than pressed hard against the stone.
