Mobile Tyre Fitters for Flitwick
Flitwick is a commuter town in a real sense. Its Thameslink station sits right in the centre, off Steppingley Road, with trains running south through London and north to Bedford, and it serves neighbouring Ampthill too. That puts a lot of cars on short daily runs to the station, while others head out along the A507, which separates Flitwick from Ampthill and leads west to junction 13 of the M1.
If a tyre goes flat on the drive before the morning train, or you get back in the evening to find one sitting low, you don't have to sort it yourself. Our fitters drive to Flitwick with tyres in the van and change or repair yours where the car is. The phone line is staffed all day and night, and we aim to reach you within roughly an hour in most cases, depending on location and traffic.
How Flitwick Call-Outs Usually Go
Most jobs here are straightforward. You tell us where the car is and what you can see, ideally with the size printed on the tyre wall. We pass it to the nearest free fitter from our network of over 100 across England and Wales, and they arrive with the equipment to finish the job there and then.
- Balancing the wheel is included at no charge.
- Your old tyre is taken away and disposed of for free.
- New tyres come with the manufacturer's guarantee.
- Payment by card, cash or bank transfer, with no hidden extras.
If the car is in a station car park, let us know which level or row it is in and whether you will be there or on a train. As long as the fitter can get to the wheel safely, the work can usually be done in the bay without moving the car.
Services for Drivers in Flitwick
- Fitting new tyres: have a replacement put on at home or at work, in a premium, mid-range or budget brand to suit the car.
- Fixing punctures: where a screw or nail has gone into the main part of the tread and the hole is small, we repair it rather than replace the tyre.
- Commercial van tyres: for trades and delivery vans based in the town, fitted wherever the van happens to be parked.
- Recovery when needed: if the wheel or suspension has been damaged, or the car can't be worked on safely, we can get it moved.
Flitwick and Its Neighbouring Villages
As well as the town, our fitters cover the villages around it: Westoning, Flitton and Greenfield along the river, Steppingley, Pulloxhill, Harlington, Clophill and Silsoe. We also work along the A507 in both directions and on the roads leading down towards the M1.
Nearby, you will find us covering Ampthill, which sits immediately to the north, Luton about ten miles south, and Dunstable.
How Old Are Your Tyres? Read the Date Code
Plenty of Flitwick households have a car that mostly goes back and forth to the station, or a second car that hardly moves during the week. Those tyres can still have plenty of tread while the rubber itself is getting old and brittle.
Look on the sidewall for a short code starting with DOT. The last four digits give the week and year the tyre was made, so 2219 means the 22nd week of 2019. As tyres age, look for fine cracks in the sidewall or between the tread blocks. Many manufacturers suggest having tyres inspected once they pass five years and replacing them by around ten, whatever the tread depth. If you are not sure, ask the fitter to take a look while they are with you.
