Tyres Replaced Where Your Car Is in Crewe
Crewe is best known as a railway town, but plenty of its residents rely on the car, whether that's for shift work, the school run or a commute down the A500 to junction 16 of the M6, which is less than five miles away. The A530, A532 and A534 carry most of the rest of the local traffic, linking the town with Nantwich, Sandbach and the villages in between.
Our job is to keep those journeys going. If a tyre fails, we send a fitter to the car with a replacement and the equipment to change it, so you aren't stuck waiting for a garage to open or trying to change a wheel on a busy verge. The service runs all day and all night, every day of the week.
Our aim is to get to you within an hour in most cases. How long it takes in practice depends on where you are and how busy the roads around the station and the town centre happen to be.
What to Expect When We Come Out
The process is simple. Once you've called, we contact the nearest available fitter from our network of more than 100 across England and Wales, and they head straight to you. On arrival they look at the damage and decide, with you, whether a repair is safe or a new tyre is needed.
- Included free: wheel balancing and taking your old tyre away for disposal.
- Guaranteed: new tyres carry the manufacturer's guarantee.
- Clear pricing: you agree the cost before work starts, and there are no hidden fees.
- Payment: card, cash or bank transfer.
Our Crewe Tyre Services
- Mobile tyre fitting: budget, mid-range or premium tyres put on at your home in Wistaston or Haslington, or in the car park at work.
- Puncture repair: a clean puncture in the main part of the tread is usually fixable, and we only suggest a new tyre when a repair wouldn't be safe.
- Van tyres: handy for the many delivery and logistics vans that use the A500 and the M6 around the town.
- Breakdown recovery: for cases where the vehicle can't be made safe to drive where it has stopped.
Areas and Villages Around Crewe
We cover the town itself and the villages and parishes that run into it, including Leighton, Woolstanwood, Wistaston, Rope, Willaston, Shavington and Haslington. On the main roads, our fitters work the A500, A530, A532 and A534, along with the M6 at junction 16.
Just down the road we cover Nantwich, and following the A500 east we reach Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent.
The 20p Test: Know Your Tread Depth
The legal minimum tread depth for a car in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, all the way round. Below that, grip in the wet falls away quickly, and you risk a fine and penalty points for each tyre.
A quick check needs only a 20p coin. Push it into the main grooves at a few points around each tyre. If the outer band of the coin disappears, there's still a reasonable amount of tread; if you can see the band clearly, the tyre is close to the limit and it's time to think about a replacement. Many tyres also have small raised bars in the grooves that show when the tread is worn down. Do the check on all four tyres, as fronts and rears often wear at different rates.
